SMARTREFTM Modulated Condensing Loop System

Origin:

Refrigeration systems, just like ventilation and plumbing systems are designed to suit extreme exterior conditions (90°F) which only occur 2% of the time each year. CSC Inc. aimed to gain the most from each season by developing a refrigeration system optimized by modulated compressor discharge pressure.

Advantages:

Reduction of condensing pressure within refrigeration systems:

  • Reduces the possibility of refrigerant leaks
  • Reduces energy consumption
  • Increases compressor lifespan

Operation:

The SMARTREFTM modulated condensing loop system is an improvement on its own heat recovery system. This system is designed in two parts; the first, heat recovery, is composed of plate-exchangers in which a secondary refrigerant can flow. The second part, composed of a direct expansion condenser through which flows a primary refrigerant, allows for variable condensing pressure. Modulated condensing pressure is made possible by a condenser used with modulating head pressure mode. Finally, the plate-exchangers allow for an increase of condensing pressure in winter to meet total building heating demand.

Characteristics:

  • Variable flow derivation system offering an optimal flow of a secondary refrigerant within modulating heat reclaim units
  • Two-circuit heat recovery system – heat recovery and condensing
  • Oil compressor cooling through the use of smaller plate-exchangers in order to recover maximum heat during highest demand heating periods in winter
  • Entirely automated glycol pumping station
